Gartner Forecasts Security and Risk Management Spending in India to Grow 12% in 2024

  GenAI-Driven Attacks Require Changes to Application and Data Security Practices and User Monitoring End-user spending on security and risk management (SRM) in India is forecast to total $2.9 billion in 2024, an increase of 12.4% from 2023, according to a new forecast from Gartner, Inc. Juniper Networks has secured a deal with Brazilian digital media company Terra to deploy its QFabric architecture for a data center network to meet growing customer demand for online media.



With the QFabric architecture, Terra is preparing to support events that will place Brazil on the global stage -- and where streaming video will be in highest demand -- including the Confederation Cup in 2013, World Cup in 2014 and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The QFabric architecture has improved performance of Terra's data centers in the United States and Brazil, optimizing consumers' interactive experiences with the company's online multimedia services across 17 countries.



Terra began with QFX3500 10GbE top-of-rack switches earlier this year to optimize the delivery of cloud-based services prior to seamlessly transitioning those same switches to the edge nodes of a single-tier network with the QFabric architecture. The solution also helped the media firm to consolidate ports by simplifying its switching design through fewer devices and interconnections while also improving scale, performance, manageability and reducing total cost of ownership.

"Terra processes traffic from tens of millions of consumers around the world. In order to maintain the service levels and experience our customers have grown to expect, we knew we had to relieve the burden on our network. We found that starting with Juniper's QFX3500 as an onramp to QFabric helped us to seamlessly take our network to the next level. Additionally, the performance and lower total cost of ownership made QFabric an easy choice," says  Werner Michels, infrastructure, network and broadcast engineering director, Terra.

The mobile Internet and cloud computing are growing exponentially. As a result, data centers need to be equipped to handle the extreme bandwidth pressures of multimedia content, both now and into the next decade, says Jonathan Davidson, senior vice president and general manager, campus and data center business unit, Juniper Networks.

Now facebook hit with international class action privacy suit

An Austrian privacy activist has launched a wide-reaching class action suit against Facebook Ireland for breaching European data protection law. Anyone outside of the US and Canada can join activist and law student Max Schrems' suit via the website fbclaim.com, since they will have signed up to Facebook's terms and conditions via the Dublin-based European subsidiary.
